Legal Advocates
- Specially trained legal advocates facilitate access to the legal system for women seeking protection from domestic violence and stalking through the courts by maintaining a presence in the 1st, 2nd, 17th and 18th Judicial Districts.
- Project Safeguard legal advocates provide appropriate forms required to petition the court for protection, assistance in understanding the intent of information requested in the forms or by the courtroom official who will rule on the case. They explain the process for obtaining protection orders, courtroom protocol, proper document service, and what to do in case of court order violation.
- Project Safeguard advocates are skilled in helping clients prepare safety plans, and they also identify community resources appropriate to individual clients and can offer legal representation referrals for client consideration. These legal advocates are not attorneys and cannot provide legal advice, but the confidentiality laws apply to all their contacts and communications.
Project Safeguard legal advocates are available to assist women when preparing to apply for protection orders in civil court throughout the metro Denver area.
Our office hours are Monday - Friday between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm.
